The

Jeffrey J. Dye

Leadership Foundation

The Washington Experience

We are pleased that you have decided to apply for The Jeffrey J. Dye Leadership Foundation’s (JJDLF) Washington Experience scholarship.  This scholarship provides financial support to selected UT Austin students who have been chosen to participate in the Bill Archer Fellowship program.  Students gain a unique insight into Washington politics and America’s policy-making process.  The JJDLF Washington Experience enables students to expand their learning experience beyond a purely academic arena to obtain practical experience with Washington’s political and governmental organizations.

The varied internships available through the Bill Archer Fellowship Program and supported by the JJDLF offer applicants the opportunity to develop professional and personal skills with top Washington political consultants and institutions.  For those interested in politics, the Washington Experience presents a unique chance to learn from professionals how politics, campaigns, and legislation influence the workings of the U.S. government.  Students with the vision and the drive to shape the future of the country will find this program an invaluable learning experience to build a career in government and public service.

Founded in 1997, the JJDLF honors the memory of Jeff Dye.  His love of politics and dedication to public service inspired the creation of the Foundation.  Jeff was a government major at The University of Texas at Austin.  After working on numerous campaigns, on the staff of a U.S. Senator and with the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, Jeff went on to become the youngest Executive Director in the history of Tennessee’s State Democratic Party.  It is the mission of the Foundation to identify high potential university students with a passion for public service and educate them on governmental and political processes in order to help make the world a better place.

To be considered for acceptance into the program, please complete the application and submit it to the JJDLF before the deadline.
